Welcome to my Website

Reiki Kanji 2Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique, developed by Mikao Usui.

Born on August 15th 1865 in a small Japanese village located in central Japan called Taniai. Usui was interested in many areas of life such as: the Shinto religion, Buddhism and sacred texts in different languages to name just a few. At the beginning of the 1920’s Usui withdrew to Mount Kurama where he undertook a prolonged period of meditation and fasting. During this time Usui received a kind of enlightenment which is known as “An Jin Ryu Mei”. As a result of this experience he developed the ‘Usui Reiki Ryoho’: the ‘Usui Reiki Treatment Method’.

In Reiki, energy is passed to those being treated though the laying on of hands.

The Japanese word Reiki consists of two Kanji (characters), REI and KI and is often translated as universal life energy. This means energy in the sense of energy from the “heavens”, the universe or “Spiritual energy”. Usui discovered that man has the possibility to connect with and receive this positive energy. During a Reiki seminar you learn the techniques involved. You can then treat yourself and others with Reiki.

A Reiki treatment provides relaxation for both body and mind. The treatment improves our natural resistance to negative influences such as stress. Reiki is able to achieve this because it has a cleansing effect for the physical and spiritual. Today throughout the world there is a growing recognition that Reiki is a form of alternative healing to be reckoned with!

A Reiki treatment session takes between 45 and 90 minutes. During this time the person receiving Reiki lies fully clothed on a treatment table, whilst the Reiki Practitioner places his hands over different areas of the body such as the head, stomach, heart, solar plexus, knees and so on, until the treatment session is complete.

Jikiden Reiki

jikidenJikiden Reiki means “direct pas down” in the most authentic Japanese line.

In 1938 Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki from one of the 20 teachers that Usui Sensei trained. With Usui Sensei’s permission this teacher, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, founded his own Reiki institute and helped spread Reiki throughout the world.

Mrs. Yamaguchi and her son Tadao Yamaguchi honouring the teachings of Hayashi Sensei and made this traditional form of Reiki available for the students in Japan and the western world.

In 1999 the “Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai” was established and they started teaching.

The Gokai – The Reiki principles.

Mikao Usui Sensei gave us these guidelines as one of the Pillars of Reiki.
He advised his students to live this principles and speak them out loud and in there hard, every morning and every evening.
In the Jikiden Reiki Seminars we also teach our students to do so and learn the Japanese words. This to preserve their energy, power. (Kotodama/words with a deeper meaning).
This words are not meant to be limiting or commanding.

Kyo dake wa: Just for today
Ikaru na: Do not be angry
Shinpai suna: Do not worry
Kansh shite: Be grateful
Gyo o hageme: Do your duty
Hiti ni shinsetsu ni: Be kind to others

Every Jikiden Reiki Shihan (teacher) has a Gokai scroll in display issued by the Jikiden Reiki Kenkyukai to verify his/her teaching qualification.

Jikiden Reiki treatments

The treatments I provide are based on the Jikiden Reiki teachings. We distinguish:

  • Treatment of the body
  • Mental treatment (for example “bad” habits, fear, stress……)

What to expect.
First get comfortable, explain about Reiki treatments, make a plan, have a short trial session.
What can Reiki do? Shin,  Shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho.
This means: For (the improvement of) body and mind the Usui Reiki treatment method.

Treatment of the body.
Treatment time is between 45 and 90 minutes.

The client lies fully closed on a massage table. We place our hands on for example the head and the parts of the body that need our attention. The practitioner uses the principle of Byosen, meaning we follow the feeling sensation in our hands (this can varies from warmth, tingling,  pulsation).

communityEven in the first session an improvement is possible. The frequency of treatments depends on the “problem”, there for the treatment plan.

What can you expect? That varies from person to person, often the client feels comfortable warmth, deep relaxation, rest. Just enjoy and let it happen. Your own body knows best.

A treatment with a group of practitioners is  an special experience.
On the photo the client lies face down.

Mental treatment.
Treatment for the mind are very helpful in difficult times.
Stress, worries, fears, depressions, trauma, addictions, bad habits………..
It all can be treated.
However we always advise to consult an doctor or psychiatrist first!
If we can combine treatments we can get the best results.
The number of treatments depends on the problem, how older or deeper the problem the more work.
Even in the first session an slight  improvement is often reported.
Reiki gives strength and helps to “take responsibility” for your own health.
Sometimes it helps if an family member or friend or the client  learns Reiki, so the treatments can be given over a longer period of time. It also helps to lower the costs.

Jikiden Reiki knows just as in Western stile Reiki education levels.
